DRC Romanee-Conti 2010
Domaine de Romanée-Conti (DRC) is well known for producing some of the most prestigious and expensive fine wine in the world. Could it in fact be the finest fine wine investment in the world? Probably. And the 2010 vintage is up there with the finest. Complete with a Parker score of 98/100 and an impressive review to boot – this is certainly one to watch.

DRC – The finest of fine wine investments?
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is well known for producing what might well be the single most expensive of fine wine investments. Based in France’s central Burgundy region, the estate comprises some 25 hectares of land, split across seven distinct wine types – of which Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the most famous.
All of the wine produced across the Romanée-Conti estate is considered Grand Cru status. This is the highest classification of wine quality that can be achieved in the area.
The Romanée-Conti vineyards within the largest estate comprise an exclusive 1.8 hectares of land, and produce some 450 cases of Pinot noir each year.
The 2010 vintage
Here’s what the Robert Parker tasting notes had to say about this vintage:
“It’s fascinating to taste the DRC Romanée-Conti 2010. It is as if all of the preceding wines are subsets of the Romanée-Conti, but in the Romanée-Conti we find all of the qualities that make the other wines so distinctive in one marvellously complete Burgundy.
Aromatics reminiscent of Romanée St. Vivant make an appearance, followed by the sweetness that can only be that can only be La Tache, then the structure of Richebourg, all wrapped into the total elusiveness of Romanée-Conti.
I am reminded of my university studies in music. There are some compositions that are so profoundly moving because they only point out the futility in trying to truly understand them. Some things remain beyond the full grasp of the human intellect. Romanée-Conti is the vinous equivalent. Anticipated maturity: 2030-2060.”
